By Joe Hartwell | Dec 21, 2025 12:00 PM

The Jennings County Panthers traveled to Seymour High School on Saturday night to open HHC conference play against the Owls. The contest stayed tight most of the way, but Seymour escaped with a 46-44 win over the Panthers. Jennings County came out firing, opening the game with two early three-point shots. Johnny Elkins powered the Panthers in the first quarter, knocking down a three and converting an and-one to help build a 17–8 advantage after one. It was an impressive night from three-point range for both teams. Seymour responded in the second quarter, battling back to trim the Panthers’ halftime lead to 32–30. From that point on, the game turned into a back-and-forth battle. Seymour slowed the tempo in the second half and ultimately secured a 46–44 victory after sinking a pair of go-ahead free throws with seven seconds remaining. Scoring for the Panthers was well-balanced, led by Johnny Elkins with nine points. Omar Gonzalez and Hayden Lowe followed closely, each contributing eight.
