Lady Panthers Drop Regular Season Finale to 3A No. 3 Silver Creek

The Jennings County Lady Panthers closed out the regular season with a tough road test, traveling to Sellersburg to face Class 3A No. 3 Silver Creek. After a fast start, the Lady Panthers ultimately came up short, falling 61-49. Both teams opened the game hot from beyond the arc, as Mollie Ernstes buried three triples in the first quarter, scoring 11 first-quarter points. Silver Creek’s Emma Schoen matched her with three three-pointers of her own, leaving the game tied 15-15 after one. A dominant defensive effort in the second quarter limited the Lady Dragons to just five points, allowing the Lady Panthers to take a 27-20 lead into halftime. The second half proved to be a different story for Jennings County, as Silver Creek came out on fire, pouring in 22 points in the third quarter, more than they scored in the entire first half. The Lady Dragons quickly erased the seven-point halftime deficit and turned it into a seven-point advantage heading into the fourth. Brooklyn Renn, who is committed to play at Kansas alongside Mollie Ernstes, fueled the surge with 15 second-half points. The momentum carried into the final quarter, as Silver Creek pulled away to secure a 61-49 victory. Jennings County was led offensively by Mollie Ernstes, who finished with 23 points, while Riley Byford also turned in a strong performance with 14. They were led in scoring by Amilia Gresham, who put in 10 points. The Lady Panthers wrapped up the regular season with a 16–6 record and will return to action for sectional play hosted by Franklin County. Jennings County will open postseason play on Friday, February 6, facing the winner of Franklin County and Lawrenceburg.
