By Joe Hartwell | Apr 22, 2026 9:35 AM

For the first time since 1996, the Hoosier Hills Conference (HHC) is expanding to include a new member. Bloomington South has officially been approved to become the newest school in the conference, with membership beginning in the 2027-28 school year. Bloomington South will join the current seven members of the HHC: Bedford North Lawrence, Columbus East, Floyd Central, Jeffersonville, Jennings County, New Albany, and Seymour. This addition strengthens the conference’s tradition of excellence in athletics. The HHC was established in 1972 with Bedford, Columbus East, Jennings County, and Madison as its founding members. Returning to an eight-school format reflects the conference’s ongoing commitment to growth and to enhancing the overall competitiveness and tradition of the Hoosier Hills Conference. "Bloomington South would like to thank all the members of HHC for this opportunity. It is a strong conference traditionally, and we hope to add to their rich tradition. We are excited to begin this new conference in 2027-28." - JR Holmes - Bloomington South Athletic Director Bloomington South and JR Holmes have been synonymous with competitive excellence and displaying ideal core values since I was an athlete back in Bloomington during my college days. Add to South being known as a first class academic institution, the Panthers embody the spirit of what the HHC was founded on many years ago. - AJ Moye - Jeffersonville Athletic Director "It is exciting to add Bloomington South to the HHC. I have been involved with the HHC as an athlete, coach, athletic director, and a fan. The HHC is a great athletic conference and it just got better." - Jeff Callahan - Hoosier Hills Conference Commissioner
