JCHS tennis entered conference week down 3 varsity starters but was able to scrap out 3 first set victories before falling to the Bedford North Lawrence Stars by the score of 4-1. Leading the way was sophomore Owen Law at #1 singles with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over BNL senior Adam Tlustek. The #1 doubles team of Jacob Vogel (11) and Greyson Jackson (11) had a roller coaster match against their BNL duo trailing 4-1 in the first set before coming back to win in a tie breaker and leading 5-2 in the 3rd set before falling 7-5 to lock the score at 4-1. Leaving the court shortly before their teammates, the freshman #2 doubles team of Jansen McDonald and Ryan Schuck earned the praise of the BNL coach by gritting out a 7-5 victory in the first set before falling decisively in the 6-1, 6-0 in the final two sets. Gage Gasper and Isaac Lightner manned the #2 and #3 singles spots, respectively. Although both were unable to secure a game in defeat, the competitiveness for each game was apparent from the stands.
