JCHS tennis entered the match with the Scottsburg Warriors down 3 varsity guys and proceeded to play inconsistent (and occasionally uninspired) tennis on the way to a 4-1 loss. The Panthers’ lone victory came from the racquet of #1 singles player Owen Law.
Although letting a 4-1 lead slip in the first set, the sophomore rallied to win 9 or the next 12 games giving him the 7-5, 6-3 victory over senior Ryan Gibson. The newly configured doubles team of Jacob Vogel (11) and Greyson Jackson (11) won the opening set at #1 doubles but fell in the remaining two to take the 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 set back. Gage Gasper (11) and Ryan Schuck (9) manned the #2 doubles slot and fell 7-6 (4), 6-3 to the more experienced Warriors duo. The team scoring was completed with defeats at #2 and #3 singles with Connor Euler and Isaac Lightner, respectively. Connor and Isaac were only able to secure 3 games among them in defeat. Isaac’s match was his first at the varsity level. No JV matches were played
